Vespa enlisted the cream of the contemporary British art scene to create Vespa works of art that were subsequently auctioned off at a charity gala in London. Working with the Focus PR agency, Piaggio gave contemporary British artists Gary Hume, Harland Miller, Simon Perition, Giorgina Starr and Gavin Turk a Vespa Granturismo each and asked them to create their own personal version of the scooter. A celebrity-studded charity auction took place at Sketch in London, where the Vespas were displayed along with vintage movie clips and Vespa advertising on the walls.
