Gilera Runner Press Launch

Press launch at the minimalist Hayward Gallery on the Thames, featuring a demonstration by freestyle Parkour artists.

The stunning minimalist Hayward Gallery, one of London’s most important contemporary art spaces, was the setting for the U.K. press and trade launch of the Gilera Runner in 2005.

The Waterloo Sunset elliptical glass pavilion, with views on the Thames river and considered to be a work of art in its own right, was used in conjunction with the sleek Project Space for the event. Working with the Focus PR agency, key representatives from the national lifestyle and specialist press, Gilera dealers, and business partners were invited to the introduction of the new Gilera Runner scooter – one of the most popular urban two-wheelers in the U.K.

Following a welcome speech and presentation to the press and trade guests by Marketing Manager Julia Lo Presti Ventura, a thrilling demonstration was given to the group by three Urban Freeflow stars, practitioners of the unique form of inner-city gymnastics known as freestyle Parkour. The heart-stopping display of cat-leaps, jumps and rolls that had made Parkour a worldwide phenomenon was followed by some tips from the trio to anyone interesting in learning a few movements. While test rides took place, guests enjoyed a buffet launch in the pavilion while admiring the view and more freestyle Parkour performances taking place around the star of the day – the new Gilera Runner.
